Sandra Lena Silverman is an author and influencer. She has spent a huge amount of $300,000 on plastic surgery procedures. She has just released a book called From Bullshit to Botox: A Rebel’s Guide to Self Care and Eternal Youth. In fact, she has tried over 25 different plastic surgery procedures.
Silverman said that a vaginal reconstruction was the most painful procedure for her. She also advised others not to do the “Y” lift.
Recently, Sandra Lena Silverman, the author and influencer, released her memoir. In this book, she has a lot to share about her personal journey to look young.
“I’ve tried every kind of plastic surgery,” 53-year-old Silverman told PEOPLE with a laugh, explaining why she wrote the book. She admitted that she had spent more than $300,000 on these procedures.
“I’ve had so many procedures and treatments. My friends and their friends who wanted to get plastic surgery started asking me for advice,” she continued.
“Then I thought, ‘Why not write a book about it?’ I’m open about my experiences and I don’t want to hide anything. I can interview experts to explain what each procedure really involves, so it won’t seem so scary. And I can also give my opinion on what’s worth the money and what’s not.”
She wants readers to know that she doesn’t have low self-esteem or a plastic surgery addiction. At least, not now.
“When I first got a breast augmentation in my late 20s, I had confidence problems,” said Silverman, a mom of two who is going through a divorce. “But I worked on myself internally. Over time, I realized that I was doing these procedures for myself, not for anyone else.”
“That’s why I talk about self-love in the book. These procedures should be for your own benefit. If something works for you, that’s great. Some women told me, ‘I used to be ashamed of wanting certain plastic surgeries, but now that I’ve done them, I feel good about myself.’ That’s the goal: to feel good about yourself and not care what others think.”
Silverman has had many procedures, from vaginal reconstruction to a mini facelift. She shared which ones she thought were worth it and which ones she thought people should skip.
Among women her age, many are still secretive about getting facelifts. But Silverman needed one because a filler treatment went wrong and made her skin sag. She loved her facelift. She was 47 and went to Dr. Jacono in New York. He does both the top and bottom of the face at the same time to make it symmetrical and avoid permanent lines around the eyes. It was her favorite surgery as it fixed the sagging skin problems she had before. She didn’t find the recovery too bad, but she had to work from home for two weeks.
These days, many young girls get face and lip fillers without realizing that it can stretch the skin. Anything that removes fat or stretches the skin is bad for aging. Women in their 20s and 30s should try to avoid face fillers and definitely not get their buccal fat removed. As you age, you actually need that fat and may have to replace it with filler. And remember, with fillers, you’re changing the shape of your face and lips, so be sure that’s what you want.
Silverman always regrets her experience with the Y lift. The first time, it was good as it lifted her jowls. But the second time, she had too much filler in her cheeks and looked like a pie. It made her skin stretch and sag, and it took about two years to fix because the filler was deep in the muscle. Even when she got a facelift two years later, there was still filler left.
Before getting a nose job, she wishes she had done more research. At that time, there was no Internet, and she was young and didn’t go to the best doctor. The doctor took out too much cartilage. If you’re not happy with the result, they have to take cartilage from your rib or behind your ear to fix it, which is painful. So, look at lots of before and after photos before deciding.
The same goes for breast augmentation. When she first got it in her late 20s, the profile was too high and the size was too large, making her look top-heavy. Later, she replaced saline implants with silicone, did a breast lift, and made them smaller and lower. Be careful not to go too big or too high.
She loves eyelash extensions, microblading on the eyebrows, eye shadowing (a permanent line on the eyelid through tattooing), and lip outline tattooing for a little lip enhancement. But she admits that getting these tattoos doesn’t feel great, even though you’re numb. And you must go to a good person for these, or you might end up looking like a clown.
She would never recommend removing fat from the knees. When she did that, she had a lot of sagging skin. She then had to use filler and do threading to pull the skin up. She actually caused more damage. She could have just eaten more protein and done more lunges at the gym. So, don’t touch your knees.
She got liposuction on her stomach, which left her with loose skin. So she had the skin tightened. She loved the result as she now has more of an hourglass shape. But it was a six-hour procedure and she had drains for nine days. She could still go about her day, just wearing a big maxi dress until the drains were removed. She doesn’t regret this procedure.
She said that her full vaginal reconstruction wasn’t just for cosmetic reasons. Her uterus was falling low after giving birth to her son, so she really needed it. But it was the most painful thing she had ever experienced. She was in a full body bandage for three weeks with a catheter. She also had labial surgery at the same time, which wasn’t a big deal as it was just removing extra skin. If you don’t like it, it’s okay to have it cut off. But if you don’t need vaginal reconstruction, don’t do it.
Kara Hui recently made the admission that she had undergone plastic surgery procedures multiple times throughout her career.
The actress decided to reveal that fact on an episode of the reality show, “Everybody Stand By”, when participating actors were asked whether they had gone under the knife.
While some of them were too embarrassed to admit, Kara, who is one of the mentors on the show, decided to confess that she had work done on her face.
The action star said that in her early years, she often filmed high-risk action scenes, and sustained fractures and injuries to her mouth, eyes, cheekbones and other parts. To restore her appearance, she underwent plastic surgery, but that her face still looks a little unnatural.
“I have had 89 stitches on my face,” she added.
She hopes that the actors present can speak out bravely, saying, “Do you think there is a problem with plastic surgery? If it is necessary, it’s okay!”
The comments attracted a lot of attention, with many praising Kara for her bluntness, as well as her dedication to her craft.
Meanwhile others couldn’t help but laugh, saying that Kara did not have an “aesthetic” cosmetic surgery like most actresses, but a “reconstructive” one.
