Kaitlyn Bristowe, the former Bachelorette, was honest about her recent eyelid surgery and the thing that made her healing process take longer. At 39 years old, Kaitlyn opened up on Instagram on Wednesday, January 22, about why she chose to have an upper blepharoplasty. This is a cosmetic surgery that removes the extra skin around the eyes.
She began a video on Instagram by showing a photo of herself from 10 years ago. She shared that she has always had very hooded eyes. “I tried to fix it by getting Botox, but I got too much of the wrong Botox. It actually made my eyelid droop even more,” she explained. She also mentioned that in the past, she had lip filler, cheek filler, and had some of her teeth bonded. “But I haven’t had anything done to my cheeks in years,” Bristowe added.
Then, the reality star showed a recent picture of her eyes. Even though she had the right amount of Botox, she still had a hooded eyelid. “I realized it wasn’t too bad, but it’s something that had bothered me for a really long time,” she said.
Kaitlyn Bristowe decided, “I wanted to use less Botox, so I thought getting a blepharoplasty would help me open my eye without relying so much on Botox.” She continued, “This was my first time having ‘plastic surgery’ where I actually had an operation. I had a little bit of the skin on my eyelid removed.”
Bristowe then shared photos of herself after the surgery. You could see the bruising and the stitches on her eyelids. But she had a problem when one of her dogs scratched at her stitches. “My dog clawed at one of my eyes, so I had to get that stitch redone,” she said in the video. “So that eye is healing a bit slower than the other one.”
Kaitlyn Bristowe also joked about her looks when she shared pictures of herself before and after. She said, “I’ve done more work on the inside.”
Other than that little setback, Bristowe said she felt “zero pain” during the surgery and that the “scarring is healing well.”
Now, the bruising on her eyes is gone, and she no longer has those hooded eyes. Success!
