A woman stands accused of stealing a large sum of money from an elderly Eugene business owner. She allegedly used the cash to pay for her plastic surgeries. On Tuesday, she was set to be arraigned on theft – related charges. But these charges were filed over a year ago.
The woman is Alicia Dawne McCallum, 51, from Portland. In 2019, Will Adler, who was 72 when the charges were filed, hired her at Will Leather Goods. This shop is in a red box car at the 5th Street Public Market.
According to a document filed in the Lane County Circuit Court, called a probable cause affidavit, McCallum took advantage of her relationship with Adler. She overpaid herself, misused her purchasing card, and used Adler’s personal credit cards. Between 2019, when she was hired, and March 2021, court documents claim she got a total of $453,276 this way.
The affidavit also states that during this time, McCallum supposedly had several plastic surgeries at a Eugene doctor’s office. It’s also said that she told Adler she had leukemia. She showed him a fake letter from an OHSU doctor, saying she needed time off from work for treatment. But court records suggest she was actually recovering from plastic surgery.
Court records show that in December 2023, a warrant was issued for McCallum’s arrest. Salem police finally contacted her about the warrant on January 17, 2025. She was told to come back to court on January 21 for her arraignment. McCallum faces a first – degree theft charge.
However, she didn’t show up for her arraignment. Now, another warrant has been issued because she failed to appear.
