Police said on Tuesday that a 48 – year – old South Korean man was badly hurt. He had to have plastic surgery after a fight in a pub in Sector 29. The fight was with a Tibetan man. The reason, as the police said, was that the South Korean man, Jung Sub Song, tried to get the contact number of a woman the Tibetan man had brought to the pub. After the fight, the Tibetan man and the woman ran away from the scene.
The incident happened around 1:20 am on Sunday. At that time, Song was about to leave the pub and go back to his apartment in a gated condominium in DLF Phase 5, Sector 53.
Sandeep Kumar, the public relations officer of Gurugram police, said, “On Saturday night, the victim tried to be friendly with the woman. When he was leaving, he tried to get her contact number. Song’s friend was very much against this.”
The police said that both the victim and the accused were drunk during the incident. During the fight, the accused hit Song in the face with a beer mug. This was so bad that parts of Song’s facial muscles, skin, and nerves had to be removed. Employees at the pub called the police. A probe team looked at the CCTV footage. It showed the three of them – Song, the Tibetan man, and the woman – were together and drunk before the incident.
The police said their probe showed that Song and the Tibetan man knew each other and had partied together twice before. But Song said this wasn’t true. He said it was the first time he saw the man. He also said that after the attack, he first got some temporary treatment. Then, on Sunday afternoon, he had a three – hour operation.
Based on Song’s complaint, an FIR was registered against the suspect on Monday night at the DLF police station in Sector 29. The FIR was registered under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
In the FIR, Song said that a Tibetan – descended man called out to him from behind. Song said, “He said a woman’s name and started arguing with me. I had never seen him before. I didn’t know why he was starting this or threatening me. I felt really uncomfortable, so I told him not to talk to me. This led to an argument. Then, he pushed me by hitting my chest. When I shouted and asked why he was doing this, he hit me in the face with the glass he was holding.”
