Sarah Michelle Gellar has made a joking comment that she would need “a lot of plastic surgery” to play Buffy again.
The 47 – year – old actress rose to global fame after starring as Buffy Summers in the iconic supernatural TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ from 1997 to 2003.
With rumors of a revival, the star of ‘Cruel Intentions’ has shared her thoughts on whether she would reprise the role. She admitted that it’s likely they would opt for someone “younger”.
She told WHO magazine, “I’d need a lot of plastic surgery because I don’t think I look like a teenager (laughs).
“I’m not really sure if I’d approach playing her any differently. Buffy is such a wonderful character. That never changes, but I think if she does come back, they’ll get someone younger. But if people think I can still save the world and kick butt, I’m okay with that!”
When asked where she thinks Buffy is today, she said, “I get asked that a lot, but I’m still not quite sure. I like to think she’s living a good, peaceful life, not having to do all the slaying she used to. But I’m happy with how we ended things with Buffy. I loved playing her and I’m proud of what she represented, and still represents. She wasn’t just the girlfriend or the token female – things we now take for granted in film and television. I feel like Buffy was part of that positive change.”
Sarah, who has two children with her husband Freddie Prinze Jr., has watched the show again with her family and is very “proud” of the role that transformed her life.
When asked if she ever revisits the program, she said, “Yeah, I’ve watched a few episodes with my kids.
“They love it. I’m proud to watch it with them. Buffy changed my life. Often, when you start a show at a young age, you can get stuck, but I didn’t have that experience. Buffy grew – she went to college and then, essentially, she became a mother. She was a mother figure to all the slayers. I never felt trapped because I got to do so many things. And then I got to play all these other characters.”
