Comedian Nikki Glaser has decided to put her plans for cosmetic surgery on hold in favor of an exciting career opportunity. In a recent interview with CBS Mornings on Sunday, December 29, 2024, Glaser revealed that she had been considering a “really invasive” plastic surgery procedure, such as a brow lift, for January 2025. However, after receiving the call to host the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, she quickly rethought her timing.
Glaser had been actively planning to undergo the procedure during the same time the Golden Globe Awards were scheduled. “For January 2025, I was going to possibly have, like, a brow lift or some kind of really invasive surgery that I’ve been, you know, looking into getting,” Glaser shared.
However, after hearing from her agents, Glaser realized she might need to delay the surgery. “When it’s two [agents], you know it’s good news,” she joked, referring to the rare occurrence of two agents delivering the same message. “And they’re like, ‘So, this operation, is there any way you could push it ’til maybe the second week of January?'”
The timing conflict came after CBS announced in August that Glaser would host the prestigious awards ceremony, which is set to air on January 5, 2025. Glaser quickly saw the opportunity to put her surgery on the back burner, recognizing that hosting such a high-profile event would require her full focus and energy.
In a statement about the hosting gig, Glaser expressed her excitement and gratitude. “I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front-row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage).”
She also took a humorous approach, adding, “The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows, but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God, I hope so).”
Known for her sharp wit, Glaser is no stranger to comedy specials and roasts. She is particularly well-known for her appearances on Comedy Central Roasts, and her latest comedy special, Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die, has been widely acclaimed, earning her Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe nominations. Glaser recently participated in Netflix’s live special The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, where she took part in roasting the former NFL quarterback alongside other celebrities like Kevin Hart, Rob Gronkowski, and Kim Kardashian. During the special, Glaser made a remark about Tom Brady’s ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, joking about the couple’s split. “Tom Brady, five-time Super Bowl MVP, most career wins, most career touchdowns, you have seven rings — well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back,” Glaser quipped.
Although she was unsure about bringing up Bündchen, Glaser later reflected, “I mentioned her in a joke, which I did question because she wasn’t there, and it’s like, ‘She’s not asking for this.’ But then I remembered that she’s the hottest person in the world, and I go, ‘She can probably handle it.’”
The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air live on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on CBS and will also be available for streaming on Paramount+.
