Kate Middleton has long been known for her impeccable style, with any outfit she wears quickly becoming a trend, a phenomenon dubbed “the Kate effect.” Now, it seems her husband, Prince William, is experiencing a similar influence, albeit in a more unexpected area: facial hair.

Earlier this year, Prince William debuted a beard, and the reaction from royal fans was overwhelming. His new look garnered widespread admiration, and when he shaved it off, many mourned the loss of the rugged style. Since then, the beard has become a regular feature at royal engagements, and its impact has extended far beyond the royal family, inspiring a new trend in men’s grooming.

According to reports from The Express, Prince William’s facial hair has led to a significant rise in demand for beard transplants, particularly in Turkey. One Istanbul clinic, EsteNove, has seen a 200% increase in inquiries about beard transplants, with many patients bringing in photos of the Prince as their ideal look. Murat Alsac, the cofounder of the clinic, has coined this growing trend as “the Prince William effect.”

“People are bringing in pictures of Prince William on their phones and saying, ‘Make me look like that,'” Alsac explained. “They think it looks rugged and masculine.”

While Prince William’s beard has clearly sparked a wave of admiration, not everyone was immediately on board with the new look. In November, during a visit to Cape Town, the Prince of Wales revealed that his daughter, Princess Charlotte, was not a fan of his facial hair. “Well, Charlotte didn’t like it the first time,” William admitted. “I got floods of tears. The first one, I got tears, so I had to shave it off.”

Despite his daughter’s initial reaction, Prince William was undeterred and grew the beard back. “Then I grew it back,” he said. “I thought, hang on a second, and I convinced her it was going to be okay.”

Now, with his beard firmly in place and royal fans embracing the new look, it seems the “Prince William effect” is here to stay, leaving its mark not just on fashion but on the world of cosmetic procedures as well.
