Park Seo Jin, a young South Korean Trot singer, recently surprised his fans by revealing that he spent over $75,000 on facial cosmetic procedures, admitting that only his eyeballs and ears remain unenhanced.
Last week, Park Seo Jin appeared on MBC’s Radio Star variety show, where he candidly discussed the extensive plastic surgery he underwent to enhance his appearance and boost his singing career. The 29-year-old artist, who made his mark on South Korea’s Trot music scene back in 2013 with his hit single “Dream,” has long been at the center of an ongoing online debate regarding the drastic changes in his looks over the last decade. Once included in an unofficial list of the “Top 5 Trot Singers with the Most Plastic Surgery Enhancements,” Park’s appearance transformation had been a topic of speculation. Although his fans had previously defended him by claiming that he had only undergone minor procedures on his teeth and eyes, the singer clarified that he had “fixed everything that needed to be fixed.”
The before-and-after photos of Park Seo Jin shared during the Radio Star episode clearly illustrate the significant changes in his appearance. The 29-year-old singer disclosed that he spent ₩100 million (approximately $75,500) on various cosmetic procedures, which included three surgeries on his nose and eyes, a substantial investment in dental work, and even a hair transplant to address his receding hairline and achieve a more youthful look.
To ensure that his transformation appeared more natural, Park explained that he opted for only 1mm adjustments with each procedure, which may have contributed to some fans being unaware of the extent of the changes until they saw the side-by-side comparisons.
“On my face, the only two parts that are still intact are my ears and eyeballs,” Park Seo Jin humorously remarked.
In South Korea, plastic surgery is exceedingly popular, with thousands of individuals traveling from China and other Asian countries to undergo the latest cosmetic procedures. Park Seo Jin’s experience exemplifies the immense emphasis placed on physical appearance within the fiercely competitive entertainment industry in South Korea, highlighting how cosmetic enhancements can play a crucial role in an artist’s career advancement.
