Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his support to national artiste Safiah Ibrahim, who is suffering from cataracts that are severely impairing her vision.

In a Facebook post, Anwar disclosed that his Political Secretary, Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, delivered a financial contribution on his behalf to assist Safiah with her medical expenses. Anwar emphasized the urgency of Safiah’s condition, noting the need for prompt eye surgery to prevent further complications.

“She (Safiah) needs to undergo eye surgery promptly to prevent unwanted complications,” Anwar stated. Farhan presented the contribution to help ease the financial burden of Safiah’s medical treatment.

Anwar also extended his best wishes to Safiah for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery, demonstrating his personal concern and commitment to supporting the wellbeing of national artistes.

This gesture underscores the importance of community and governmental support in addressing urgent health needs, particularly for individuals who have contributed significantly to national culture and the arts. Safiah’s situation highlights the broader issue of accessibility to timely and adequate medical care, which remains a priority for the government under Anwar’s leadership.

The Prime Minister’s involvement brings attention to the health challenges faced by aging artistes and reinforces the need for continued support and resources to ensure they receive the care they need.
