Megan McKenna, the former star of The Only Way Is Essex, recently addressed a social media troll who questioned whether she had undergone lip fillers, firmly demanding that they “leave her page.”
The 31-year-old TV personality is expecting her first child with fiancé Oliver Burke, who proposed last summer. The couple announced their pregnancy in April following fertility treatment, and McKenna has been sharing updates on their journey since then.
In a recent Instagram video, McKenna is seen cooking pancakes while discussing what she needs to pack in her hospital bag. Dressed in comfortable pajamas with her hair tied up, she shared her excitement: “Celebrating every milestone in this pregnancy! I ordered so much stuff for the hospital! It’s just the best. Shall I do a pack my hospital bag with me when it’s time?” She added, “Also gluten-free pancakes for dinner are sometimes needed… I’ve really been suffering in the evenings with the heat and feeling uncomfortable. Thank god for my pregnancy pillow & my Stanley cup I don’t think I would cope without.”
While most followers offered supportive comments and advice, one user fixated on her appearance, asking, “Have you had your lips done again !! Wtf.” McKenna swiftly responded: “No! Sick of people saying this. Pregnancy has made my face puff a tiny bit. Do you really think I’m going to get any cosmetics during my IVF journey and pregnancy?!!!! Come on.” She further added, “Saying ‘wtf’ literally judging before even having an answer. Please leave my page.”
McKenna has been open about her and Burke’s IVF journey, revealing her diagnosis of PCOS and the challenges they faced. “When I was younger I was diagnosed with PCOS & knew I should freeze my eggs at some point,” she shared. The couple froze embryos and McKenna began a demanding course of fertility medication. However, she developed OHSS (Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome), a condition that caused her ovaries to swell painfully.
“I had OHSS. Very painful & dangerous because my ovaries were HUGE! I had fluid leaking inside my stomach which was making my belly swell & I couldn’t walk it was so painful,” she recounted. Despite these challenges, McKenna’s health improved, and doctors successfully implanted an embryo. She described the moment as magical: “A month later when my lining was good we had our baby put in. It was the most magical experience seeing it go into me being placed safely with embryo glue to make sure it sticks! & it did!”
Megan McKenna’s journey highlights the emotional and physical trials of IVF, and she continues to share her story with honesty and resilience.
