Johnson City, Tenn. – Ground has been broken for phase I of the Johnson City Eye Surgery Center’s Ambulatory Surgery Center, marking the commencement of construction on an expansive Eye Care Campus.

Scheduled for completion in 2026, the center will boast six cutting-edge operating rooms outfitted with the latest advancements in surgical technology and equipment.

Plans for Phase II include the development of a state-of-the-art, patient-centered eye clinic adjacent to the surgery center, aimed at further enhancing comprehensive eye care services.

“We have been meticulously planning this endeavor for several years,” commented Dr. Jennifer Oakley, a physician at JCESC. “Breaking ground on this new facility signifies a significant milestone for us.”

She added, “The expansion is much needed. Our current facility, with only two operating rooms, struggles to keep pace with the growing demands of our community. The new center will feature six state-of-the-art operating rooms equipped to cater not only to general eye care needs such as cataract surgeries, but also specialized services including retina, cornea, oculoplastics, pediatrics, and more. We are thrilled to expand our capabilities across all sub-specialties of eye care.”

The ambitious project underscores a commitment to meeting the burgeoning healthcare needs of Johnson City and its surrounding areas, positioning the Johnson City Eye Surgery Center as a cornerstone in advanced eye care services for years to come.
