Eva Mendes is opening up about beauty this year, including the beauty treatments she’s tried and regretted.
In an interview with The Times, the actress reflected on turning 50 in March and revealed if she feels different.
“It’s totally fine. It’s just that number sounds a bit crazy,” she said. “I feel like a girl at heart.”
However, she admitted that she felt like she was becoming a bit dazed as time went on.
“I forget everything. I guess that’s part of turning 50,” she continued. “I feel like I’m dealing with the effects of hormone changes.”
Although she admitted that her chin is starting to look “weird” and she’s considering laser treatments, getting older hasn’t changed her view on beauty.
“There are a lot of things that make me feel sexy, and I feel like I’m sexier than not,” she told the outlet. “I guess because I never considered myself beautiful, but I’ve always felt sexy.”
She also admitted to trying various cosmetic surgeries when it comes to beauty standards.
“I’m not afraid to try something safe because most of these little treatments, like, are reversible,” she explains. “If you get Botox, if you don’t like it, it goes away. Sometimes I regret it… and then I just have to wait.”
But it’s not all her fault. Mendes, who has been working with Ryan Gosling since 2011, also credits their loving relationship for keeping her happy after years together and two children.
“The way my man looks at me… sometimes I’m like, ‘Oh my god,'” she confesses. “It can be uncomfortable, but a lot of how I feel is a reflection of what he’s giving me.”
If that’s the secret to being as beautiful as she is, we wouldn’t be surprised.
The actors met on the set of a movie in 2011 and a few months later they were spotted out and about at Disneyland, confirming their real-life romance.
In 2012, they welcomed their first daughter, Esmeralda, and Amada in 2016.
In a 2019 interview, Mendes revealed that she had long ago decided not to have children, but that all changed when she met the right man.
“Ryan Gosling happened,” Mendes said of her change of heart. “I mean, I fell in love with him. And then it made sense for me to have… not kids, but his kids. It would be very special to him.”
Despite being very secretive about their lives together, the two have occasionally made public appearances for each other and confirmed that they were secretly married. In 2015, Gosling, 43, raved about Mendes, 50, in an interview with Hello! magazine.
When asked what his ideal woman looked like, he responded, “Eva Mendes. I don’t have anyone else.”
And just like that, Gosling raised the bar.
