Rob McElhenney is open to another body transformation.
The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, 47, joked during an appearance on Brittany Broski’s web series The Royal Court that she might get a BBL, or Brazilian butt lift.
“It’s been a topic of conversation in the McElhenney household for a long time,” he shared in a Friday, March 28, episode.
The actor also admitted that he once mistakenly mentioned to his wife, fellow It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson, that people “still need to go to Brazil” for the procedure.
“She said, ‘Honey, we live next door in Beverly Hills, we can get these things done anywhere,’” he recalled.
McElhenney added, “You rarely see a man who’s had [a Brazilian butt lift]. The actor also said that Olson, 49, “comments on a man’s butt more than any other feature she sees.”
“The game of football is so hard,” he joked. “These guys are wearing tights and their butts are sticking out.”
Brazilian butt lifts are becoming increasingly popular and involve transferring fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks. Celebrities such as SZA and Latto have publicly admitted to having had Brazilian butt lifts.
McElhenney is best known for his role as Mike on the long-running comedy It’s Always Sunny. Between Seasons 6 and 7 of It’s Always Sunny, he gained 60 pounds to play the “fat” character of Mike. He later began his fitness journey and appeared on the cover of Men’s Health magazine in 2021, showing off his muscular physique.
“When I was in shape, it was men who were most fascinated. Women didn’t care,” McElhenney told Ryan Reynolds in an interview for the publication’s May issue. “My wife actually gets really upset with the way I look because she thinks I’m trying too hard, which is true.”
The Myth Quest star continued: “It’s fascinating that men aspire to look like that and to be aesthetically pleasing to other men. I mean straight men, actually, but also men in the gay community. What’s interesting is that it’s not based on sexual orientation or sexual attraction, it’s more about the body image that we’re used to. People find it fascinating because it’s relevant to their lives.”
“A lot of it has to do with health,” McElhenney added, “but it also has to do with aesthetics, sexuality, and all the things that make us human, which is something we grapple with every day in different ways.”
