Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has reignited interest in a video she posted on social media about her upcoming trip to space.
Sanchez, who will fly on a Blue Origin mission with an all-female crew next week, has been rumoured in the past to have undergone cosmetic surgery on her face as well as injections of fillers and Botox.
In the video posted on Thursday morning, she appeared to have had additional fillers injected into her cheeks and lips, as well as fresh Botox around her eyes, a plastic surgeon told MailOnline.
“The neck is thinner, you can see it’s lost fat and sagged a bit, but that doesn’t happen in other areas,” said Dr Timothy Katzen, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon.
“So I think she’s had something injected into her face – fillers, fat or cheek implants.” ”
Comparing the latest video with photos of Sanchez at the inauguration, board-certified plastic surgeon Smita Ramanadham said Sanchez appeared to have received additional filler and Botox, especially around her eyes and eyebrows.
“You do need to do it every three to four months, then,” Dr. Smita said. “That’s usually the course of Botox. So, from January to now, you should have done it once.”
Sanchez will take part in Blue Origin’s 11th crewed flight, which will take passengers about 62 miles above Earth for a few minutes of zero gravity.
Dr. Smita said Sanchez may have recently had surgery to shorten the distance between her nose and upper lip, also known as a lip lift.
“In the inauguration photo (in January), she was clearly pouting and had her lips closed, and she had filler there,” she added.
“In the video posted on Friday, her upper lip does look fuller and fuller than in this still photo.”
Many times, overfilled lips lose what surgeons call the “landmarks” on the lips, such as vertical lines that become more or less pronounced when the mouth moves.
Lips are naturally expressive and should move fluidly when we talk or smile.
However, overfilling or incorrect placement of fillers can interfere with this movement, sometimes resulting in a stiff or unnatural appearance – often referred to as a “duck mouth” – where the lips appear stiff or out of sync with facial expressions.
“I do think she has a lot of filler in her lips, and she talks normally,” Dr. Smita said.
“But I do think if she really pursed her lips, if you saw some of her different movements, like, if she used a straw or something like that, I think that might be more obvious then that some of her movements are soft.”
Sanchez’s periocular area is also bright and wrinkle-free, which the doctor said could be due to Botox injections around her eyes, or more invasive procedures that improve her upper eyelids by removing excess skin and strategically trimming pockets of fat to give her a natural, youthful look.
“That would explain why her eye area looks smoother and has fewer upper wrinkles,” said Dr. Rukmini Rednam, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Texas.
Sanchez has also been rumored in the past to have had a brow lift, and possibly follow-up treatments to prevent drooping and smooth forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet.
“What’s more obvious to me is the position of the brows,” which are lifted quite a bit in the video, Dr. Smita said.
On Instagram, Ms. Sanchez spoke with a lot of expression — and raised her eyebrows naturally, as people often do when speaking animatedly.
Photos of Ms. Sanchez at the inauguration captured only still moments, without facial movement, which made her eyebrows look less raised.
“She definitely had Botox to raise her eyebrows, but it’s hard to say if she had a brow lift at some point,” Dr. Smita said.
Ms. Sanchez posted a video on Instagram showing a small rectangular device that will accompany her on her flight to the edge of the Earth’s atmosphere, recording acceleration, sound, temperature and pressure as the spacecraft enters zero gravity. The information it collects will be used by teachers in K-12 schools.
Ms. Sanchez has mentioned having some nonsurgical cosmetic procedures in the past, but has never confirmed any surgery.
