Katie Price’s Daughter ‘Put Off Surgery for Life’

Katie Price, a former glamour model and television personality, has revealed that public discrimination over her appearance has had a lasting impact on her daughter, Princess, 17. The criticism Price has faced throughout her career, combined with the pervasive influence of social media and the “airbrushing” culture, has led Princess to be “put off surgery for life.”

In an interview with BBC Essex ahead of her Easter pantomime performance in Clacton-on-Sea, Price discussed the effects of public scrutiny on her family, especially her daughter. The 46-year-old, who has undergone multiple cosmetic surgeries over the years, including breast implants, facelifts, and liposuction, acknowledged that her visibility in the media, while contributing to her fame, has also resulted in intense criticism.

“Unfortunately, a downside of my job is I get a lot of discrimination for things in my life I want to do,” Price said. “I’m like ‘you haven’t met me, you’re just judging me through the media.’ That becomes difficult.”

For Price’s daughter, the scrutiny that her mother has faced has led to a change in her perspective on cosmetic surgery. “She’s been put off [surgery] for life, seeing what I go through,” Price admitted. “She goes, ‘Mum, you don’t need it, look how pretty you were,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh no, I look so ugly.'”

Despite the criticism, Price praised her daughter’s natural beauty, calling her “beautiful and stunning,” something that Price herself has struggled to accept throughout her career. “I’ve never thought I was pretty. If I did, I wouldn’t do all this stuff to myself, would I?” she reflected.

Price’s career skyrocketed before the advent of social media, and she credits her ability to remain relevant to her relationships with print, broadcast, and online journalists. While her media presence has remained high, she has faced financial and legal struggles that have led to a shift in public opinion about her.

The former I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant also expressed frustration with how media outlets now operate, accusing them of using her name for “clickbait.” “When I started, it was all newspaper and print and you didn’t have a voice,” Price said. “Nowadays, you have a voice and a lot of the newspapers – it’s all about clickbait. They get the worst headline to make you click on it.”

Price also noted the growing influence of social media in distorting reality. “With social media, you’ve also got airbrushing, you’ve got filters. You can change how you look,” she said. “I’m always changing as I keep getting my face done, so I probably look different every year—but at least I own that.”

Through her experience, Price has become a vocal critic of the distorted beauty standards perpetuated by both traditional media and social media platforms. Despite the ongoing public scrutiny, she continues to embrace her own journey, however controversial it may be.
