Dr. Saba Motakef, a board – certified plastic surgeon better known as Dr. Saba, has helped many patients gain new confidence through cosmetic procedures. Breast augmentation is one of the most requested treatments he provides.
Dr. Saba is proud of the great results he gives to his patients. He says, “Compared to some other surgeons in the field, my aesthetic is very natural. That’s the look I aim for. I think the patients who come to me are those who want a more natural appearance.”
After the surgery is done, it’s the patient’s job to keep the results. And it all begins with taking the right steps after the operation. Dr. Saba emphasizes how important it is to follow all post – surgery instructions. This includes wearing support garments and not lifting heavy things in the early stages of healing.
He also points out how a healthy lifestyle matters for healing. “You should drink a lot of water and eat foods full of nutrients to help with recovery and reduce swelling,” he says. “And you should avoid smoking and alcohol.
Smoking makes it hard for the body to circulate blood and heal, and alcohol can raise the risk of problems and dehydration.”
Normally, he asks patients to come in for a follow – up one to two days after the surgery. If the healing is going well, he may ask them to come back after two weeks and then again after four to six weeks.
But breast augmentation isn’t a procedure that patients can just schedule, recover from, and then forget. Dr. Saba explains that while the immediate follow – up is really important, patients also need a long – term plan for monitoring.
He says, “You should visit your surgeon every year for the first few years to make sure the implant is in good condition and you get the best results. Annual check – ins let your surgeon check the implant’s position and find any early signs of problems, like capsular contracture or implant rupture.”
Capsular contracture is a problem where the scar tissue around the breast implant gets tight. It can cause a lot of pain and make a patient’s breasts look unnatural. Some cases need revision surgery, but if the surgeon catches capsular contracture early, it might be treated with less extreme methods.
Besides following their long – term monitoring plans, patients should form habits that help make their breast implants last longer. Along with staying away from nicotine and alcohol, one of the most important things is to keep a stable weight.
Dr. Saba says, “Big weight changes can stretch the skin and affect how the breast implants look. It’s also a good idea to wear a supportive sports bra during physical activities and avoid high – impact chest exercises that put direct stress on the pectoral muscles and implants, especially in the first six to twelve months.”
For patients, breast augmentation is an investment – not just in terms of money. By staying committed to a healthy lifestyle, patients can keep their results and enjoy their new, improved bodies for many years.
