Aesthetic Entrepreneur’S Den: New Business Ideas Meet Expert Judges At Scottish Conference

by Amelia

On Saturday, 22 March 2025, finalists in the Aesthetic Entrepreneur’s Den will step onto the stage at The Hilton in Glasgow. This is part of The Scottish Aesthetic Conference 2025. They will present their ideas to a panel of judges. These judges have a lot of experience in this medical speciality.

The Aesthetic Entrepreneur’s Den is the first event of its kind in the country. It offers two things. There’s a Start – Up Aesthetic Launchpad worth £1500. Hamilton Fraser, the Conference’s official insurance partner, sponsors it. There’s also an Aesthetic Grow Accelerator worth £5000 for an established medical aesthetics business.

The Den gives a special chance for people working in this field. Experts will evaluate their business ideas. One of the judges is consultant plastic surgeon Mr Taimur Shoaib. He has a successful private practice. He provides cosmetic surgery and cosmetic medical treatments through La Belle Forme clinics in Glasgow and London.

Mr Shoaib is eager to hear ideas from new medical professionals in aesthetics. He also wants to see how existing clinics are planning to grow. When listening to the pitches from the contestants, Mr Shoaib says he will mainly look for motivation. “We expect them to have a good business plan and a clear idea of what they want to do. But most importantly, I will look for a strong sense of purpose. Why do they want to do it? To me, that’s the most important part of the process.”

Asking “why? ” is important in Mr Shoaib’s own work. He asks patients why they want treatments. Some patients at his clinics want to look more beautiful or transform their appearance. Others want to age nicely or make some part of their look more normal.

He says finding out why patients want treatment is the first important step. This helps decide what to do to get good results that improve people’s lives.

This ability to make a real difference is one of his main reasons for doing this work. It makes medical aesthetics a very rewarding speciality. Mr Shoaib says experienced practitioners and those thinking about entering the field can gain a lot from going to the Scottish Aesthetic Conference. “It’s a chance to talk to others in the same field, share experiences, and learn about new products and techniques.”

This is a fast – growing sector. It’s worth £5.4 billion in the UK. In this field, medical – qualified practitioners have to follow strict laws. This keeps patients safe and ensures good results. It’s very different from people without medical training. Right now, they can give treatments like Botox without any rules. “As a doctor, I have to follow the laws. But if I lost my medical licence, I wouldn’t be regulated,” Mr Shoaib says.

This problem puts patients at risk. Mr Shoaib says the solution is for Healthcare Improvement Scotland to regulate anyone who injects needles into the skin. This would reduce the risks of getting injections from people without medical training.

The Scottish Aesthetic Conference will have speakers, including Stuart McMillan, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde. It gives people in the field a chance to hear about progress in making laws stricter. This will keep patients safe and maintain high standards.

Like many of his colleagues, Mr Shoaib sometimes has to fix problems for people who had bad cosmetic procedures abroad. “We see that people who go to other countries for treatments don’t get proper follow – up care.”
