Jimmy Featherstone, a wannabe reality TV star nicknamed “Hull’s Ken Doll”, has been found to have repeatedly blackmailed two men. He used “sextortion” tactics, making menacing demands for money and threatening to ruin their lives.
The flamboyant 25 – year – old, who is known for his love of cosmetic surgery and fake tanning, left one of his victims “scared and terrified”, Hull Crown Court heard. His threats had a “massive impact” on the victim and his family. Featherstone, from Hessle Road in west Hull, admitted blackmailing one man between August 17 and 19 last year. He made an unwarranted demand for money with menaces. Then, while on bail for that offence, he blackmailed a second man on January 2 this year.
Jennifer Gatland, the prosecutor, said the first victim had a long – term girlfriend and a young daughter. He joined an online dating site. He saw a profile picture showing a bottom and started exchanging messages. Later, he realised he was talking to a man, not a woman.
The victim kept exchanging messages and sent two pictures, one of his face and the other an intimate picture of his genitals. Then, he received a message. The sender knew his name and said they recognised him.
It was Featherstone. He demanded money, knew the man had a girlfriend, and threatened to send the pictures to his friends, family, and share them on Facebook. Featherstone told the man to pay £70 and “it would all be over”, and he sent his bank details. The man, realising it was Featherstone, sent £70. He asked if it was the end. Featherstone then asked for another £40, saying “this would be the end of it”. The man sent £40. But on August 18, he woke up to a Facebook message. It demanded £80 or the pictures would be distributed.
