Gianna Maazzilli, a 25-year-old woman from New York, stated that she has never desired large breasts, particularly those that looked artificial like the ‘Baywatch’ style. She underwent a surgery to correct her breast asymmetry. The outcome was so natural that her friends didn’t even notice any change.
Maazzilli, who works in the pharmaceutical marketing industry, said, “I don’t want my body to seem fake or make people have odd thoughts about it.”
Dr. Sophie Bartsich, a plastic surgeon in New York City (NYC), pointed out that the trend of reducing breast size is quite recent.
“Many patients are aiming for a look that appears more elegant and classic,” Dr. Bartsich said.
Previously, the trend in plastic surgery actually pushed patients to select the largest possible breast size. Doctors thought that patients wouldn’t want to regret having a size that was too small. But now, many doctors have come to realize that overly large implants can lead to problems. These include rib deformity, shrinkage of breast tissue, and skin stretching. As a result, implant manufacturers are now offering much smaller sizes compared to the past.
