As we’ve reported before, because a lot of citizens made complaints, an inspection into the legal aspects of the professional work of plastic surgeons in the country has started.
To carry out this inspection, the Ministry of Health in Azerbaijan set up a Special Inspection Commission. This commission is made up of authorized representatives from the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Science and Education.
The commission is still doing its work. The public will be told about the results later. But already, the press has reported that the licenses of several plastic surgeons have been taken away.
Now, the question is: how will this impact the number of aesthetic surgeries and their costs?
Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor Adil Geybulla commented on this situation. He said that the revocation of these licenses won’t have a big effect on the overall effectiveness of plastic surgery.
“Actually, there are plenty of plastic surgeons in the country that patients can go to for advice. There will just be less discussion about this topic. This was a measure that had to be taken sooner or later. In the future, we need to put in place an accreditation system. We should strictly control doctors’ work and manage the license issuance process. We need to deal with this issue at a systemic level,” he said.
When it comes to the cost of these surgeries, the expert stressed that the prices are determined by market competition.
