Popular YouTuber Nikocado Avocado, whose real name is Nicholas Perry, made a big splash on the internet last year with his amazing 250-pound weight loss. Now, he’s about to surprise his followers all over again.
On Wednesday, Perry showed his 4.6 million subscribers another big change in his body. He said he had several operations. These operations removed at least 10 pounds of extra skin, which was left over after his huge weight loss.
In the last few months, Perry has cut back a lot on making daily videos. Especially those “mukbang” videos where he used to eat huge amounts of food on camera.
After losing weight and being in front of the camera, Perry said he had been hiding his loose skin. He did this by standing at certain angles, being careful about his clothes and the lighting. But the truth was, he had loose skin on his abdomen, arms, legs, torso, back, and even his neck. It was everywhere.
Before uploading a video about his surgery to YouTube, he told NBC News that he had never talked about his loose skin. He had just ignored all the comments and questions from people.
Perry’s “Two Steps Ahead” video from September is one of his most popular videos. It has gotten more than 50 million views on YouTube. But with this success, he also faced a lot of questions from both new and old followers.
He said that before, when he had a 400-pound belly, he used to show it off and didn’t mind when people made fun of him because it got him more engagement. But now, people are closely looking at his photos and wondering if he had plastic surgery, or gastric bypass surgery, or if he used a drug like Ozempic.
On Wednesday, Perry said he was ready to share what had been happening behind the scenes. After having a series of invasive body lift procedures, he had to sleep at a 45-degree angle every night. He put his limbs on a pile of pillows.
The procedures successfully removed the loose skin all over his body. But Perry said he felt like he had been “sawed in half, spun around and peeled open like an orange.”
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, skin-tightening procedures have become more popular in recent years because of weight loss medications like Ozempic.
But Perry’s plastic surgeon, Dr. Timothy Katzen, said these procedures are high-risk and have long, difficult recovery periods. After a body lift, a patient has to limit their movement for weeks. Depending on the job, they might need to take two weeks to a month off work.
For Perry, these operations were like the final step in his weight loss journey that amazed millions of people online. Perry said he has always been very afraid of medical procedures. But he hopes that by being open about his journey, he can inspire people in similar situations to face their fears.
He said that having followers is a crazy thing. He feels like a normal person just doing silly stuff. But at the end of the day, his followers are real people who like him for some reason. He also said that this shows people that he’s not special just because he has followers. Just like everyone else, he had loose skin that he couldn’t avoid, and he still has insecurities.
As for his personal brand, he said to keep his weight off, he now only posts mukbang videos a few times a month. Before, he used to post videos of himself eating huge meals once or twice a day. He said he doesn’t think he’ll ever go back to eating that much and that type of food often.
