Meghan Trainor is opening up about her unexpected experience with Botox, admitting that nobody warned her about the potential side effects, which left her unable to smile.
During a lighthearted interview on Today, the 30-year-old pop star shared that she recently had a “lip flip” procedure, her first ever, which initially had unexpected consequences. “The movement is coming back,” Trainor noted with a smile, explaining that she is now able to smile “a little bit” after the treatment.
The singer, best known for hits like All About That Bass, explained that she received the Botox injection in the middle of her lips, a procedure she had been told would enhance her appearance. “Everyone’s like, ‘You’re going to love it, your little lips,'” she recalled, but the results were not what she had hoped. “I didn’t love it because I couldn’t smile,” she admitted.
Trainor described the procedure as excruciatingly painful, yet she held onto hope that the results would be worth it. “It was the most painful thing, and I was like, ‘This is going to look great,'” she said, mimicking a half-smile. “Nobody warned me,” she added, reflecting on the lack of information she received before undergoing the procedure.
The Criminals singer also shared a humorous moment involving her father, who walked in on her receiving the treatment. “Oh, no,” Trainor recalled reacting when her dad entered the room.
In addition to the lip flip, Trainor mentioned that she had also received Botox in her jaw to help with clenching. She believes that the combination of the two treatments may have contributed to her temporary inability to smile. “Nobody warned me,” she reiterated, stressing her surprise at the side effects.
Trainor’s candid conversation sheds light on the unexpected realities of cosmetic treatments, offering a relatable and humorous perspective on the challenges that can come with trying something new.
