Lifted Hands INC, a U.S.-based medical outreach organization, has provided free eye surgeries to more than 50 individuals in Ogidi, Anambra. This initiative took place at Iyi-Enu University Teaching Hospital Ogidi, a key partner in this mission.
Mr. Moses Okaro, President of Lifted Hands INC, expressed his gratitude for the experience, highlighting the meaningful interactions and joy brought to patients. “The healing and the happiness we see on people’s faces make this mission deeply rewarding,” Okaro said. He also revealed plans for a return to Nigeria in 2025 to continue their efforts.
The initiative, which has been active for 15 years, is dedicated to Okaro’s late mother, Mrs. Gladys Okaro. Dr. Obinna Arinze, an ophthalmologist from the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, confirmed that all surgeries were successful, with no complications reported. Patients with severe conditions were monitored overnight, while others were discharged.
Beneficiary Mr. Pascal Obasi shared his gratitude, stating, “I am thankful to God and Lifted Hands for restoring my sight. I couldn’t afford this surgery on my own, and I am grateful for their support.” Despite being from Imo State, Obasi traveled to participate in the mission and appreciated the hospitality he received.
Another patient, Mrs. Agnes Okafor, noted that the surgery has significantly improved her quality of life.
The medical team, comprising 15 practitioners, including surgeons and nurses, traveled from the United States to Nigeria for this outreach, underscoring their commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
