Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, the representative of Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has initiated a significant effort to address eye health issues among his constituents. As part of his outreach program, he has distributed 750 pairs of glasses and earmarked resources for 50 free cataract surgeries.
The medical outreach commenced at the Constituency’s Unity Centre office, aiming to improve vision health through the provision of essential medications and eye care services. On the first day alone, 250 residents benefited from the initiative.
Hon. Adedeji, known for his advocacy for accessible healthcare, underscored the critical importance of good vision during his visit to the event. “Clear vision is essential for all aspects of life, including education and daily activities,” he emphasized.
Speaking further, he explained the rationale behind the initiative, stating, “By providing these glasses and surgeries, our goal is to enhance the quality of life for our people. Initially, we planned for 20 free cataract surgeries, but due to the high demand and recommendations from ophthalmologists, we have expanded our commitment to 50 surgeries to accommodate more individuals.”
During the outreach, individuals in need of corrective lenses received glasses immediately, while those with cataracts were scheduled for surgery to restore their vision.
Hon. Adedeji’s initiative not only addresses immediate healthcare needs but also underscores his dedication to improving the well-being of his constituents through proactive community engagement.
