Skin, one of the UK’s leading providers of plastic surgery services with over 70 branches nationwide, has entered administration, jeopardizing numerous jobs. The company’s website, as of 5 pm on Tuesday, displayed a message stating that despite extensive efforts to secure investment for ongoing operations, these attempts were unsuccessful.
“We recognize this outcome will significantly impact our team members and customers, and we sincerely apologize for the stress and inconvenience caused,” the message conveyed. The company assured it is actively addressing concerns of affected individuals, pledging to promptly contact clients awaiting test results. Further updates will be communicated through the website and other available channels.
Prior to the website’s suspension, Skin touted itself as the largest network of specialized skincare clinics in the UK. Established in 1990 and headquartered in Birmingham, the company expanded its footprint to major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, and operated 17 clinics in London. It also managed several brands including Harley Medical Group, known for cosmetic surgery, and ABC Medical, specializing in skin technology.
With a workforce exceeding 450 consultants, doctors, nurses, and medical practitioners across England and Scotland, Skin offered a range of services from tattoo and wart removal to cosmetic enhancements like lip fillers and thread lifts.
Clients have been informed that scheduled appointments will no longer be honored. Expressing frustration, one customer, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed their abrupt cancellation of a £700 prepaid treatment series without prior notice or guidance on obtaining refunds.
A spokesperson for Skin confirmed that the company, encompassing entities like Skin Clinics, the Harley Medical Group, and other subsidiaries, has ceased trading effective July 17. Attempts to reach Skin through their former social media accounts on platforms like X and Instagram have been unsuccessful, suggesting closure of these communication channels.
Kendrick, the PR agency representing Skin, expressed being blindsided by the development in an Instagram post, acknowledging the flood of inquiries from press and patients seeking clarity on unresolved matters like appointment reimbursements and operational logistics.
The unfolding situation has left many stakeholders, including employees and clients, uncertain about the future course of action and financial redress.
