Hilaria Baldwin reveals the plastic surgery she underwent after breastfeeding for “more than a decade.”
The 41-year-old former yoga instructor, who spent the better part of the past decade pregnant while starting her family with Alec Baldwin, explained her decision to get breast augmentation surgery.
“Since I had been breastfeeding for so long, I decided to do these things to step it up a little bit,” she said on the couple’s TLC show, The Baldwins, on Sunday.
“I’ve been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for more than a decade,” Hilaria added of her decision while chatting with friends. “I think this is the first time in my life that I’m not pregnant and/or breastfeeding since I had kids.”
Hilaria and Baldwin have seven children together — Carmen, 11, Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 4, Maria Lucia, 4, and Ilaria, 2. The couple welcomed Maria Lucia via surrogacy five months after Eduardo was born. Hilaria chose surrogacy after she miscarried an embryo following IVF.
She chose to breastfeed all of her children.
“I was more or less used to my body by then, and as most breastfeeding women know, when the milk runs out, it’s different, the reality is much lower.”
“For me, my decision, my journey was to breastfeed. You know, I was comfortable with the way I looked before. Once the milk dried up, I wasn’t that way anymore, so I made the choice.”
“So it was just to make me feel better, and that’s OK.”
While Hilaria noted that getting breast augmentation after breastfeeding is “a very common thing,” she worried about the impact it would have on her oldest daughter, Carmen.
“Whenever I do something vanity-y, I don’t want them to feel like they have to act a certain way,” she explained on the show. “I wanted to protect Carmen as much as I could because I went through a lot of self-doubt and heard a lot of criticism that I shouldn’t have heard. It came from all sorts of perspectives and certain media outlets.”
In addition to having seven children with Hilaria, the 30 Rock actor is also the father of Ireland Baldwin, whom he shares with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
