Today, two people claiming to be doctors from Vietnam were arrested. They were offering illegal cosmetic surgeries in two condominium units. At around 11 am, staff from the Immigration and Health Department carried out raids on both units.
The authorities found out that these plastic surgery services were being promoted on TikTok. These so – called “doctors” offered different kinds of services. They did things like reshaping noses and enhancing eyebrows. The prices for these services were anywhere from RM1,000 to RM15,000. The medicine that was found at the places was thought to have been brought in from another country.
An agent, who was caught at the Desa Petaling unit, said, “For every treatment that clients book, I get a commission of 5 to 10 per cent.” The unit had a treatment room. It had a treatment bed and tools for doing plastic surgery. Surgical tools like scalpels and scissors were being kept in an oven under the bed.
Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff, the Kuala Lumpur Immigration director, said, “When we raided the Bukit Jalil condominium unit, we detained five Vietnamese people and one local. The second raid in Desa Petaling led to detaining four Vietnamese and one local.” Sources said that two of the Vietnamese were pretending to be doctors. Wan Mohammed Saupee said, “Our investigations showed that the two residential units are connected, even though they used different company names.”
He also said that the condominium was probably being rented for RM2,600 a month. “This syndicate has been operating for at least a year. These Vietnamese ‘doctors’ are not properly certified or approved to do these procedures.”
